Selected Film
A journey to the origins through portraits of muleteers and peasants of the Venezuelan Andes, who faced the fierce beauty of that desert of ice, which are the Paramos, barely covered with a poncho and often barefoot. Scarcity was tempering tough personalities, but with a great sense of humor. Their adventurous lives could cross supernatural beings, including witches or Momoyes, naughty gnomes, who can cause great natural catastrophes, to punish men when they pollute the region. Through different types of illustrations: paintings, watercolors, engravings from the 19th and 20th centuries, photos from the beginning of the 20th century – many unpublished - as well as animations, we want to convey an era and a way of life: their traditions, myths and legends, as well as the veneration they have for the environment, which they managed to preserve and which we had forgotten. The songs, as a commentary, will serve as a guiding thread for different stories that reflect a passion for life. Our film seeks to preserve this intangible heritage that we only appreciate when we lose it.
