Dear Father

Dear Father is a terrifying short film that follows the story of Ana Lucía, a young nun and student who begins to suffer increasing mental and physical oppression at the hands of Father José Berredath. What starts as strange and unsettling glances from the priest during her classes soon spirals into a series of paranormal events: doors opening on their own, inexplicable voices, and haunting dreams, all tied to the priest, whose behavior becomes increasingly disturbing. The tension reaches its peak when Ana, tormented by a violent nightmare, confesses to the priest seeking solace, only to be rejected and face a series of supernatural phenomena. Trapped in the confessional, she discovers that the priest has been possessed and, in a desperate moment, begins an exorcism using her faith and a childhood photo for protection. The story becomes a psychological battle between nightmare and reality as Ana fights against the dark forces inhabiting the priest. However, the ending reveals a harrowing truth: what appeared to be a demonic possession was, in reality, the result of mental manipulation through drugs and abuse that the nun had endured for months, transforming her memories into a false reality. With a chilling final twist, Dear Father explores themes of abuse, mind control, and the corruption of the human psyche under the guise of religion. The film's moral underscores the importance of protecting the mind and advocating for truth, condemning manipulation and abuse of power within religious institutions.
