Hortensias para Inés

María León was born in Caracas. He grew up in absolute misery with his father and two brothers in a tenement house in the center of the capital. When her mother died she was three years old, at nine, her father sent her to a nuns' school. There he began to awaken his class consciousness by experiencing injustices; the mistreatment of the nuns and their hypocrisy. She grew up believing that she was a very unlucky girl, a girl who never raised her head, until she joined the first cell of the communist party. So, Mary was also Agnes. Inés, with that name, joined the guerrilla, becoming one of the first guerrillas in Venezuela. Since then she has held her head high and is able to look at the flowers that she never saw as a child. The word coherence defines her, she is a woman who lives as she thinks and that is why she is an inspiration for millions of people.
